CURRICULUM PLANNING
• Collaborate with the Academic Leadership Team (ALT) during the annual curriculum review to audit and align the curriculum with standards, plan course offerings, recommend revisions and standardization, and set or update course prerequisites and descriptions.
• Collaborate with the ALT to track course rigor, pacing, and workload throughout the school year, providing immediate feedback to teachers and making notes for curriculum adjustments to address during the annual review.
• Maintain and update the Curriculum Library during the annual review by revising existing guides, creating new course guides, and procuring resources to ensure alignment with ALT standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate with CR/GIP program administrators to align short course content with regional curriculum, following provided instructions and supporting preparation for Winter and Summer online courses as requested.
CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION
• Lead quarterly department meetings to foster a shared understanding of curriculum goals, communicate updates and expectations, and share best practices for curriculum implementation.

DEPARTMENTAL COLLABORATION

DEPARTMENT CHAIR JOB DESCRIPTION
• Facilitate forums within PLC meetings and Teams groups for teachers to share effective teaching practices, resources, and instructional strategies, promoting peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and independent communication.
• Collaborate with Deans to provide subject matter expertise and resources to teachers as requested by Deans.
ASSESSMENT PLANNING, WRITING and DATA ANALYSIS
• Guide and oversee the department's formal assessment planning and writing process, ensuring adherence to style and content guidelines, addressing misalignments or errors, and supporting timely, accurate submissions for secondary approval with Academic Deans.
INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
• Provide subject-matter expertise, resources, and mentorship to department faculty, supporting instructional delivery, lesson planning, assessment, and curriculum implementation based on Deans’ observational data and requests.
• Provide support and mentorship to new teachers by onboarding them into PLCs, sharing curriculum and planning materials, setting expectations for lesson plans, and offering subject-specific guidance and resources as requested by Deans.
• Continuously review unit, lesson, and assessment plans to identify areas for improvement, provide content-specific training as needed, and communicate broader instructional training needs to Deans.
• Monitor PLC progress in implementing action plans and achieving goals, providing feedback and support to ensure effective execution and successful outcomes.
DEPARTMENTAL LEADERSHIP and IMPROVEMENT
• Lead quarterly department meetings to facilitate communication, collaboration, and alignment among department members.
• Audit faculty grade books to ensure accuracy and alignment with content standards, collaborating with Academic Deans to address any discrepancies or issues promptly.

• Audit lesson plans in all campuses weekly for content and curriculum alignment across on-campus PLC cohorts, collaborating with Academic Deans to address issues related to rigor and alignment.
• Regularly review lesson plans to ensure alignment with curriculum objectives and student needs, providing feedback, content-specific guidance, and training while communicating additional instructional support needs to Deans.
• Oversee and review instructional materials, including textbooks and supplementary texts, during the Annual Curriculum Review and as needed throughout the year, incorporating partner and student feedback to guide continuous improvement within the department and PLCs.
LEADERSHIP CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
• Participate in synchronous and asynchronous leadership professional development workshops to enhance leadership skills, foster professional growth, and stay updated on best practices in educational leadership.
• Complete 30 hours of professional development per school year, encompassing a diverse range of topics relevant to educational leadership and personal growth.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
