My duties in this role include the following. · Soil surveys of pre-mined and stockpiled soils to develop soil management plans and agronomic advice for compliance with legislation and site specific Mining Operation Plans (MOPs). This work includes operating drilling and coring equipment to gather soil information and samples; · Agronomy and vegetation studies to provide advice and support for improving rehabilitation outcomes for native vegetation and pasture; · Erosion and sediment control including sediment laden water flocculation; · Product testing of rehabilitation and erosion control products both in the laboratory and in the field; · Soil surveys to determine the suitability for effluent water disposal to land; · Collating and analysing data and preparing detailed reports; · GIS and remote sensing using software including ESRI, Global Mapper and QGIS (in addition to other software products and digital information) for the preparation of detailed maps and plans for reports; and · Developing safety plans including Risk Assessment / Job Safety Analysis.

My duties in this role included the following. · Managing groundwater monitoring programs covering areas of over 100 km2; · River level and water quality monitoring; · Installation and monitoring of equipment including bores, weather stations and weirs; · Designing surface water drainage systems using aerial photography and mapping software; · Collating and analysing current and historical data and preparing detailed reports, maps and plans; · GIS and remote sensing using Mapinfo, Surfer (contouring and cut-fill volume estimations) and Microsoft Office programs; · Developing safety plans including Risk Assessment and Job Safety Analysis; and · Surveying (using Trimble GPS systems), identifying and recording the location and as-built specifications of monitoring networks from historical data.

RCA Australia is a geotechnical and environmental consultancy firm based in Newcastle. My duties in this role included the following. · The investigation, monitoring and remediation of contaminated sites including the ex-BHP site in Newcastle, former Pasminco lead smelter at Boolaroo and fuel service stations and depots. · Soil, surface water and groundwater monitoring. · Hazardous substance audits at industrial and commercial sites throughout NSW, Victoria and Queensland. · Preparing detailed reports, maps and plans. · Preparing of Risk Assessment / Job Safety Analysis.

This period included training as an apprentice, self-employment (6 years) and work as a Plumbing Supervisor. My duties during this time included the following. · Plumbing, drainage, gas-fitting and welding in industrial, commercial and domestic situations. · Installation and maintenance of the water, waste, gas, steam, compressed air and process piping systems in a food and beverage manufacturing plant. · Operating and maintaining industrial on-site sewerage and trade waste treatment plants. · Managing staff and contractors. · Managed domestic, commercial and industrial installation and maintenance programs.
